Tradewinds Sign Rally, High Desert Test Sites, 2013
The Tradewinds Sign Rally involved a loosely choreographed sunset performance based on an imaginative tour of the floor plan of the Tradewinds motel that used to be on the lot in the heyday of route 66 travel through Albuquerque. The Highland high school marching played pep tunes while participants interacted with customizeable, hand made, LED illuminated props. An orange steel arch was placed on the spot that had once been the entrance to the pool. At one point during the evening, performers spelled out messages in semaphore to the audience.
This project was supported by the Black Rock Arts Foundation.
