Return to the Volcanos
Updated: Mar 16
It was a great day for dreaming about how we could be etched in stone.
When I met the backpackers at the volcanos it was sunny and calm. I unpacked our supplies as curious children wandered over to see what I brought.
Sitting next to boulders and chamisa in the warm sand, we quietly contemplated how our own rock drawings could look, using colored pencils on black paper. When we were done we walked along the mesa’s edge and placed the drawings against volcanic rocks, imagining our work as ancient vestiges for the future.
The drawings made that day told stories of heroes, villains, circling journeys, and signs from above.
