Where:

4119 Central Ave NE. Albuquerque, NM

What:

Under the direction of Michael Lopez and Lindsey Fromm, artist Nanibah Chacon worked with an art class taught by Ramon Gomez at Highland high  for 10 weeks this spring to design these two images for this particular sign. Students were excited to take a walking field trip to this sign site, and  decided with Nani to work on a painting that featured  themes of traveling.  A vintage car was brought to the school for students to draw and photograph. On the opposite, west facing side of the sign, Nani and the students painted a portrait of St Christopher, the patron saint of travelers, as an Albuquerque native with features familiar to them. The caption in Spanish translates in English to: Victory for all people.
